RT's Longboard Grill
Member of the "Bar Hall of Fame"
Have you ever heard of the "Bar Hall of Fame"? Didn't think so. If there was one, the first inductee would be RT's Longboard Grill in PB! I have lived in Pacific Beach for 9 years now, and can't tell you how many times I have been there, whether for a couple tacos and a brew with the homies, or Reggae Night on a Sunday...its all good. Even if you are not from the 92109, and someone said to meet them at Longboard's, you would know to roll to the top of Garnet Avenue without hesitation...Longboard's is second nature to all the "cool kids".
What about Taco Tuesday? It's INSANELY GOOD for your body, that's what! I cruised in about 4pm and met up with one of the managers Felipe who greeted me with a Tecate...only 3 dollars...holler at a baller! I noticed a perfect size crowd, not too big, not too small, and immediately got situated on the patio. One thing I am not a fan of is hecticness in the spot...no room, lame crowd...NOT RT's that's for sure. The poor waitress, Andrea, who had the joy of dealing with me for the next 3 hours let me know that there were $1.50 Chicken or Cod Tacos and $3.00 Margaritas, along with Tecate and Tecate Light for Happy Hour until 7! Then Andrea told me about their select appetizers were half off and $2.50 domestic drafts were an option as well. I said, "Heeellllllooooo! Bring it on! I'll take the fresh veggie platter with RT's own Jalepeño Cream sauce...and some spicy chicken wontons, calamari and 2 chicken tacos. Thanksss!" For the record I wasn't alone, I had some company...a couple friends and 1 enemy. Before I knew it the food had come out, nice and fresh veggies...bomb. Thinking back I might have thought the food was brought out super quick because I was consumed with my surroundings. Of course people watching on the patio from Longboards is a top 10 location, not to mention all the Boston Celtic and Red Sox paraphanelia hanging above...but the TV's that were airing the NBA playoffs couldn't have worked out better. All in all, I would definately recommend hitting up Longboards either for a Happy Hour situation or even Open Mic Night on Tuesday, you never know you might catch me with my Banjo on my knee.
