PB Ale House
If you're ready to try some new, great tasting beer...
A lot of people ask me what kind of beer I drink. This question is more frequent when I am at the beach showing off my beer belly, but that is beside the point. The point being, I just like a quality beer that tastes fresh off the tap. The Pacific Beach Ale House meets my expectations and above.
I recently attacked their Happy Hour on a Tuesday night while watching the BCS Bowl game, another reason to hit up the PB Ale House...it was INCREDIBLE! I didn't sit on the multi-tiered rooftop because I wasn't there to drink their "hand built" Mojito's this time around...I save that for the summertime and Sunday Funday's. Instead, I sat in Heather's section on a nice leather couch; yeah I said leather, with some friends and glanced over their happy hour menu. Half-priced apps, $3 house wines, beers and well drinks, enough said. What are the apps that we enjoyed you ask (‘cause you know I was grubbin’), Crispy Calamari, Rattlesnakes, Filet Skewers, Black Bean & Carnitas Nachos, and Pepperoni Pizza...oh and a Baja Fish Taco. Let's see...that is a multi-tasking menu hitting various parts of the cultural food ring...you feel me?
Everything is prepared and presented nicely, not your typical bar food...and delicious too. I'm not just saying that either. I want to touch on the fact that they serve "Rattlesnakes"...but no not really snake; they are stuffed jalapenos with herb cream cheese and wrapped in bacon. Loved them, the hottest thing I've tried in a long time. They sound intimidating and might make you cry, but they're a must have…you know why? They have really good beer brewed in house to wash away the tears...TEAR BEER! That is what I called the Whitewash Wheat I was tippin' back. I let the bartender in on the new nickname for the Whitewash, "Let me get another tear beer please!" And yes, Blair thought I was a tool, but kindly re-upped my wheat beer. Blair was also kind enough to let me sample all the house brews on tap: Good Times Gold (A light beer), Crystal Pier Pale Ale (obviously named after the pier we have all jumped off nude at the end of Garnet one time in our life), The Amber Wave, PB Porter, Pacific Sunset India Pale Ale, and the St. Sideburn Winter IPA (Seasonal). They were all very tasty, and just a nice quality beer, easy on the taste buds. By far my fav, the Whitewash Wheat...that's just me though.
So, if you're ready to try some new, great tasting beer...and eat delicious bar food at a local brewhouse, I recommend hittin' up The Pacific Beach Ale House. One tip, wash your hands after eating the Ale House Rattlesnakes for two reasons...1. They burn if you touch certain sensitive body parts (you know what I'm talking about...YOUR EYES you dirty minded people) 2. And, the Alehouse has the baddest hand dryers in their restrooms according to Geena the Latina from AJ's Playhouse.
Support your local Brewhouse...The Pacific Beach Ale House, M-F from 3-6 pm for a great happy hour. Shout out to JP, Blair, Stacy, Heather and Jaqueline for having my friends and I for a memorable happy hour...MUCH LOVE!
