Taxi Talk
This is a series of interviews with local Cab and Shuttle drivers.
Cabbys Name: Jerome
What makes your cab unique?
Thinking about putting a sparkling paint job up on her…but, I’d have to say them plush velvet seats right there.
What do you like best about your job?
The freedom to go wherever I want, when I want. Nobody telling me nothing!
What other jobs have you had?
I've been in security as well as sales if you know what I mean (laughing).
What do you least like about your job?
I hate inconsiderate drivers. Oooooohh…they make me heated! I mean, who been giving out them licenses nowadays?
What’s a typical shift like?
Flossing the streets of Diego and picking up ladies…I mean passengers.
We bet you’ve met some interesting people. Who have you driven around?
There have been some interesting folks, but the most interesting were some of those Hare Krishna dudes in the robes. They trip me out!
What’s your most bizarre passenger request?
One homeboy asked to help him pickup a "lady friend". Need I say more?
No, I got it. Has someone had sex in your cab?
(Looks at me with a funny face) What do you think?
Any complaints to the city about restrictions or laws that you’d like changed about cabs or shuttles?
They should let people drink in my cab. I mean they let people drink in limos right?
What are the most annoying things that passengers do or say?
What don't they do? There are a lot of annoying people in this world! Just chill out Diego, everything will be alright.
What’s the biggest tip you received and what’d it entail?
$1,500 for hooking someone up.
Not going to ask if you’re not going to come out and say it. Any last words?
Keep it clean no puking on the velvet seats!!
Remember to treat all of your cab drivers with respect and give them at least a 20% tip. They have a family to feed too and gas prices aren’t cheap!
